Make a Star-Shaped PNG

star mask · choose the points · transparent background · batch

Cut an image into a star, with everything outside the star left transparent. Pick how many points you want — a classic five-point star, a sheriff's badge, a burst. It runs in your browser and outputs a PNG so the transparency is preserved.

    Tips for a good star

The star is centred and sized to the shorter side of the image, so a roughly square source gives the fullest shape. More points make a spikier burst; five is the familiar star. Because the corners are transparent, keep the result as PNG — flattening to JPG would fill them with a solid colour.
